Cinema Therapy

MAKING SENSE OF LIFE, ONE BLOCKBUSTER AT A TIME

MEET YOUR INTERNET DADS

Cinema Therapy was started in 2020 when two friends, a licensed therapist and a professional filmmaker, teamed up to share mental health and relationship skills while geeking out about movies.

Hi. I’m Jono. I’m a therapist and I love movies.

Jonathan Decker is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with a masters degree in family therapy and a bachelor’s in psychology. He is the clinical director of the trauma healing clinic Mended Light and has been working with therapy clients since 2008.

Jonathan is a husband, father, actor, author, and film critic. He has a background in stage comedy and independent film acting, including several films with Alan.

When Jonathan had the idea for Cinema Therapy, he was right in believing Alan would be the perfect partner and co-host. He was wrong, however, in assuming that he would be more emotional on-camera than Alan. So very, very wrong.

I’m Alan. I’m a filmmaker and I need therapy

Alan Seawright is an Emmy™-Award winning director of commercials, TV, and documentary and narrative film.

He accidentally stumbled into filmmaking when he was pushed, by Jonathan, to make a short film while they were college roommates. He then made the best career choice possible: dropping out of college to pursue a career behind the camera.

After 15 years of hard work and countless hours of no available work, he became an overnight success talking about movies and crying on the internet. Which was his exact plan all along, if there are no follow-up questions.
